It First, I am using the Behr Venetian Plaster from HD.

I started my project and after the plaster dried, I noticed the raised lines appearing on my walls. I then tried to apply another coat of plaster to cover the lines and it just got worse. So, I want to start over and that is how I came to this forum. Looking for help. I have read a lot of the questions and responses and now I have a question- If I wipe down the walls with water then the plaster reactivates which will allow me to at least smooth out the plaster. After smoothing out the plaster do I need to prime again or can I just start over with my first coat of plaster?
How can I minimize the lines when applying the plaster?
Can I add water to the Behr plaster to make it thinner?

I bet my questions look silly. I am so much a newbie.

Thanks
Kristina Aguilera

I would use less plaster on your trowel. The lines are generally caused from the plaster coming over the top of the trowel. after you drop off split the differance so the plaster will not go past the top or bottom of the trowel.
I would:
1. smooth the walls.
2. prime the walls.
3. just less plaster on your trowel.
It is better to do more coats than to put on thick.

wear a respirator, and sand those lines down. Behr requires sanding. Once you get better with the trowel, youll see how much smoother it goes on
luck
