Are there any color charts or formulas for tinting metallo? I Checked the Safra online formulas and Metallo is not listed.

Hi Paul,
The colour formulas are either on a ring (depending how long you are an applicator) or in the metallo decorators book that you can purchase for $99.

Jan, Thanks for the research. I am looking to duplicate a board we did in class. Here is the formula from the Safre web site:

01-Fandeck Safra Colors
Prodotto-Product:
STUCCO VENEZIANO METALLO Bronzo
Formato-Size:
Litri-Liters 1
Colore-Color:
BRONZO-BRUNITO

Peso standard netto - Standard net weight - Kg: 1,30
Peso tara (bidone) - Tare weight (bucket) - Kg: 0,07
Peso standard lordo - Standard gross weight - Kg: 1,37

Pesata reale lorda - Real gross weight - Kg:
(compreso bidone - included bucket)

Colore-Color Grammi-Grams
Artecolor n. 8 67,10
Artecolor n. 15 11,70

My question is this; If the net weight is 1,300 grams and tint # 8 is 67.1 grams + tint #15 is 11.7 grams. That means the overall quanity of tint is 78.8 grams. The tint is 10.6% of the final mix.
Doesn't that seem like a lot of tint?

Does seem like a lot of black. You might try a 1/4 liter sample and see what the color looks like. It will give you an idea of how you can adjust the black for what you need.I guess the brunito is a blackish green bronze.

(Divide the weight by 4 and you will get 1/4 liter.)

Paul, Safra has a "coloring class" from their website with safe tint thresholds for all their products. It groups the products into classes and shows how much tint in grams you can safely put in before compromising its integrity. I'll send it over to you via email or you can find it here: well was going to post the link, but now it's in Italian on the website. I emailed you the version in English. Metallo is class four and for 1 liter of product 84 grams is the threshold. The general guideline used to be 30% tint for synthetics and 10% tint for limes. With the coloring guide it's specific and really helps if you're tinting your own colors and want to know if you really are putting in too much tint that might cause issues.

Like James said some products can take more tint than others.

Hey Dan the man. I'll send in an email. The form on Safra's web site is in Italian but I have it in English. Glad to send it to you. On the way now...
