Hello again everyone. I picked up a few DvD's from Italian Plasters and I am quite impressed. Ive watched them a few times now and each time I pick up something else. While I had alot of questions answered, now that I am begining to understand the different names of the plasters/basecoats/wax's I have a few more questions before I place an order and start making some samples.

1.) I watched Stucco Valentino done with Calcenova over Prontomuro. Could you do Stucco Valentino with Veneziano over Prontomuro?

2.) Has anyone ever done a closed method of Valentino? Or would this be a Bi-Color Calcenova with interest?

3.) How do you mix the micah powders with your wax? Is there a Color combo to stick with, or is it trial and error? (Like golds with reds, silvers with blacks)

4.) Do the wax's last for awhile or do they have to be reapplied often?

5.) I saw a picture in the gallery of a 'regular' Calcenova applied over Prontomuro. What is the benefit of this? Just a solid base, or does it add depth once you burnish?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions. It may not even be my place to ask these questions on the open forum, not sure.
Thanks for your time,
Jeremy.

Sorry I forgot one question that has been nagging me.

6.) Can you do a bi-color with 2 different colors. Say blue and white, grey and black, or red and gold. Or does it just turn into a mess?

My Answers
1.) I watched Stucco Valentino done with Calcenova over Prontomuro. Could you do Stucco Valentino with Veneziano over Prontomuro?
A.) Yes, just don't apply primer over open areas.

2.) Has anyone ever done a closed method of Valentino? Or would this be a Bi-Color Calcenova with interest?
A.) Yes, closed methods have been done. Using prontomuro creates more texture.

3.) How do you mix the micah powders with your wax? Is there a Color combo to stick with, or is it trial and error? (Like golds with reds, silvers with blacks)
A.)mix the micah in with the wax till you get the coverage you want. Yes, trial and error.

4.) Do the wax's last for awhile or do they have to be reapplied often?
A.) No need to reapply.

5.) I saw a picture in the gallery of a 'regular' Calcenova applied over Prontomuro. What is the benefit of this? Just a solid base, or does it add depth once you burnish?
A.) there is a change in the look give it a try.

6.) Can you do a bi-color with 2 different colors. Say blue and white, grey and black, or red and gold. Or does it just turn into a mess?
A.) Clean your trowel when you start seeing muddy tones. You want the colors to intermix some, but it depends on your end result.

Hey thanks for the advice Steve, it will be helpful when I start application.

Going to pick your brain one more time on this thread. Today at work I got thinking about the 15-30min window you have for burnishing. I may be getting abit ahead of myself here, but if I get a large wall, or ceiling to plaster, would I need a second person for burnishing? Or can you leave of with a 5x5 section (estimate), to burnish, and then go back to plastering? I know doing textured ceilings we never let the mud we are working out of dry,or leave off a ceiling that is half finished for the next day, as it can leave noticeable lines where the mud overlaps and is thicker.

btw this forum needs more lolcats

Two people is best, one applicator, one burnisher. Moves faster and less likely to get lap lines. 4x4 if you are working alone.
