Hello. I'm considering a bathroom renovation where I would hang crown molding and use venetian plaster on the walls and possibly the ceiling. Is it better to hang the crown molding first or apply the venetian plaster first and then hang the molding? I'm also interested in hearing how easily the venetian plaster cracks when hanging pictures, knocking into walls, hanging molding, etc. Thank you for your help.

Well geeorgiaguy,
Both ways will work. I personally would hang the moulding first. That way I am not worryed about marring the plaster finish, with my install. Then it is just a matter of masking the moulding. Now assuming that you have a finished wall and then descide to hang the moulding. I use a brad nailer to install trim. I have never had a plaster crack or chip as a result. However I am now worryed that I will ruin the finish of the wall, if I have to paint or stain the moulding? I don't like to mask off finished walls. But thats me. Hope it helps. Simon |

I agree with Simion. I would always have the trim installed, calked and painted before I apply the plaster.

Yep, it is lots easier to wipe plaster off your molding than try to get something of your plaster..
