Plaster Junkie
Posted
Hi Jones,

I'm sorry that I missed this post or I would have replied sooner.

It's good that your plaster stuck to the tile and hopefully it will stay stuck!

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't want to spoil the success but;

If your tiles are in a moist or humid area, there may be a problem.

Weldbond glue (like many carpenter glues) is made of PVA (Poly Vinyl Acetate) PVA is water-soluble. and it will re-liquefy under moist conditions.

The glue is a bonding agent and is frequently used in masonry work for bonding plaster or concrete to "stubborn" substrates.

If your tiles are in a moist or humid area, it would be good to seal the plaster with a waterproof sealer. The success may also depend on the plaster that was used.

A question: Were the tiles on a floor?

If so, plaster will not withstand the kind of use that a floor will receive and you may have a problem here too.

I hope that this project turns out well and all these warnings don't apply to your plastered tiles.

Happy troweling!

David
