I am applying Rasa Calce to a room with an arch that has a bullnose edge. I have it taped in order to give me an edge while I plaster. Question, do I plaster to the tape, pull it off and feather it in while the plaster is wet? I figured I could do the feathering with my finger. Anyone else had this problem?

I don't quite get it?
Are you plastering the whole arch or just one side of it? I guess I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish by feathering.

I am gueseing you are ending it at the edge of the bullnose. I would do the plaster up onto the tape then after it is dry you can soften the sharp edge with a damp sponge or wet sandpaper. Or better just soften the edge while smoothing down the set up rasa calce.

I like Marks advice blending the plaster, but you will still need to tape for the color. Better to see a difference in only color between the two sides of bullnose as opposed to seeing a 'heavy' lip (taped demarcation) where the Rasa ends and the other half of the bullnose starts. What is the other texture on the other side of the bullnose?

Thanks for the advice, the wall on the other side of the arch is smooth. I'm sorry Amy, I didn't make it real clear. Schmarky and Greg, going to combine what the two of you suggested, it will work, am taking pictures of final job and will post.
Thanks again,
Johanna

use your fingers to smooth it. Dip them in water and smooth.

We almost named our daughter Johanna. Love that name
