what a great site!!!! i am remodeling a kitchen and am wanting to do a venetian plaster on the walls but am coming up with a lot of questions that i dont have the answers to and am hopeing for your help, first is i do have texture on the wall now it is an orange peel texture do i need to sand the walls smooth or can i do a vp over that texture? next question is, it is in a kitchen how durable is this finish? i want to sand and burnish it for that marble finish but if i need to wash the walls can i? next question is if i am not happy with it for some reason or at a later time i want to change the color can i just paint over it? last question is what is the best kind of venetian plaster to buy, i do live in a small town but we do have lowes, homedepot and some small paint stores and would like to know which brand is best to use with great results. thank you very much for any help you can give

I would skim the walls with sheetrock mud. sand and then prime. From there you can do as you wish.
