Greg,
yes, mineral spirits will suffice. I've used it to remove wax from a venzi job I had. It did well removing the wax without harming the venzi much. June, give Doyle a call. You can order some to try from him, but make sure you order a DVD to go with the finish you select. Working with real lime plasters can be kind of tricky. There are also other lime plaster distributors available across the US but since this is a Safra forum, it's not really appropriate for me to list them. Just google "lime plaster" on the web and you'll find several different distributors. Most I have found have some nice marmorino plasters, but they don't have some of the other ones Safra offers. Safra has the best smooth high polished marble plaster (Calcenova), and a few others no one else offers anything like, such as Fiorentino, Travertino, veneziano, Rasa Calce, and Mantovano. Nobody has anything even close to Safra's mantovano. Get samples from Doyle and test them out. Buy one or two DVD's and play a little until on a piece of sheetrock until you feel comfortable doing a larger space. I think once you see the real lime plasters, you will no longer want to use the american made stuff. There is no comparison really. It's like looking at real marble or travertine stone and then comparing to a laminate or vinyl floor. Nancy M. |
