Hello, quick question. I applied my first layer today and during the drying process the plaster cracked? What did I do wrong.
Thanks for your help. Mindy |

I am using the American Traditions Series from Lowes.
The wall had mirror glue on it, which we sanded off, vacuumed and then wiped down to remove dust. We let it dry. I think you are right I applied it too thick. Can I remove the cracked portions and re-apply? Thanks for your help, Mindy |

Because that is really just a thick paint. I bet you can take a wet rag and wash off. Worth a try.

Doyle is right on. If you wet the plaster, It will reactivate and allow you to fix blemishes. Sanding is not advised prior to skim coat, as it will leave discolored spots in your finish.

I am familiar with this product. It likes to peel. To prevent that,..wait till the next day to apply second coat. To get a really nice shine, lightly sand to first coat, tack off dust, and apply second coat. To get a wet shine,.lightly sand second coat, and apply thinned out third coat and buff.
The reason why it cracked is because you may have globbed too much on. Enclosed is an American Tradition VP that I applied. |
