Doyle,
I think is talking about a Movico at Copans and US1.
This place is not in Boca . I have been to most theaters in Boca. His discription sounds like the Movieco in Lighthouse Point .This effect is wild. They spray on bright colors using a gun that sprays 5 colors on at one time. But the gun head does not let the colors blend together.I happen to be around there when they were spraying this effect. This could be what he is talking about.

As far as I can understand Razor is right. HVLP should stand for "High Volume Low Pressure", a kind of spraying machine which, unlike PUPs (Pot Under Pressure) works with a constant low pressure, therefore being intrinsecally safer. Indeed the danger of a pot exploding on a jobsite is scary.
Generally though applicators prefer the PUP compressors, the standard ones like Binks, because their product-delivery rate on the wall is higher and because they have much less overspray. The more, sometimes they can increase the product-pressure inside the pot to speedup the application so....
In Europe since the mid 90s there is a drive towards discouraging the use of PUP vs. HVLP for safety reasons. I do not know if it happens in the States as well.
Regretfully the information that the finish was applied with a HVLP is not enough to figure out precise data on the kind of product being sprayed.
