I thought that some of you might be interested in a project that I just completed for the Mattie C. Stewart Foundation. My daughter and I worked with a local custom auto company in turning a school bus into a traveling theater that will tour the southeast. I need to also say that our supplies and time were donated. The purpose of the bus is to point out the seriousness of school dropouts in American. The bus is painted to be one half school bus and one half correction's bus used by the prisons. Students watch a powerful movie where prisoners talk about their failures in life and how education could have made a difference. After the movie, the screen goes dark, and a jail cell appears. The door opens outward forcing the student to make a choice. The bus is called "The Choice Bus." You can pull it up on Youtube to see actual footage.

While most of the jail cell was done with a variety of decorative finishes, we did use prontomura in some areas to accentuate the block walls.

The point of this post is to encourage each of you to give back to your communities. Your talents are too valuable to just keep to yourselves. I know that many of you already do this, but many do not. We can and should invest in our communities.

Thanks for letting me "stand on my plaster box" and speak to an issue that I feel strongly about.

Rik

Hi Rik,
What a great gift you gave to those kids and the community. Who thought of this idea? So many kids need this message now a days along with the good news of the gospel. Great job you and your daughter did!!
