My results were/are pretty good. I am still getting calls from people I met during the show. I have more than a few contracts "out". However, digging pools seems to be the primary focus. I have scheduled two jobs for late fall, end of October beginning of November. We'll see.
I found that networking with other industry partners was the greatest benefit.

Home shows have always been profitable for us. I will be finishing up a job next week that came from my last home show. Met with a designer yesterday who saw me at this past show who may want some aquarello and stucco romano in a couple of rooms in her house plus some other finishes. Plus it's a good way to network and meet other applicators. Home shows are great!

We are in the planning stages to setup a booth for several area home shows in 2005. What are the lessons learned that were beneficial to your booth setup, display, literature, sample boards and/or advertising? And in contrast, what didn't work? If photo's are available, that would be great also. Thanks......

My main advice is to spend the time to put together a top notch booth. Have a big professional sign that says who you are and what service you provide, so that people who walk by don't have to stand there and wonder what you do. If they can't figure it out in about 5 to 10 seconds they keep walking. We got so many walk-ins and customers because our booth was so much better than the rest of the finishers and applicators. We did live demonstrations at our booth this time. We did attract a good amount of attention and impressed several designers but if the demonstrations will turn into work, who knows, but it was fun. We only hand out business cards, no brochures.
