i wrote before but am a little desperate and
rather new. Condo lobby wants to cover matte
tiles with plaster. I saw someone had used
a product called demisions for bonding. They
say to use only their lime plaster but I want
to use ours. Has anyone had experience
using calcenova. I would rather use venzi, since I am more familiar with it. Help and Thanks. Jan Lasley

Sounds like a fun job. Prontomuro L would be a good base then I would put a layer of pronto S once you get a smooth surface just to close off the open grain. then you can do your venzi or calc. Just a thought, I have a valentino job for a brick fireplace so I'll be doing all that minus the pronto S

Thank you for your answer. While I have done
a lot of plasters none over tile I did not know Prontomuro L would bond but you think it will.
Thanks, JL

I would prime with XIM primer first for a bond coat to the tile.

Hello, ive done venetian plaster over glossy tile before, several years ago, still holding up, even inside of the shower stall. there is quite a bit of prepwork involved.

if the tile is glossy, it would be good to scuff it with a carbide grid or a grinder. remove all dust and then prime with a heavy duty primer like zinzer or ive even had good results with gripper primer at home depot. let the primer dry and get hard, then paint the surface with slighty diluted quikcrete concrete bonder from home depot. Let the bonder dry and then skim the surface with pronto muro, alow to dry and then skim a final time with rasa calce to arrive at a smooth surface, ready for a finish.
