Help! Next weekend I am going to show off my skills as an applicator at our yearly Remodelers and Builders Home Show in Binghamton N.Y. I have only just started to really promote my business and have not any jobs to show off. I'm hoping someone out there might be able to give permission to show their photos. I was thinking people would really be inspired to see how others have used this great artform. If anyone also has any advice and information on what to expect that would also be a great help!
I really appreciated what Doyle had to offer. Such enthusiasm and encouragement. Thank you everyone!! Larry Guidici BRAVO DECORATIVE SURFACES fyrbyter@aol.com |

Larry,
I post my stuff here for people to shop. Do you have internet access at the show? Rather than trying to download and re create images and make a album of work that you can not claim as yours, just take your laptop or computer or rent a computer for a week and have this site available in your booth. Is it fair to assume that you are a finisher with a new plaster portfolio? Take your finish portfolio just in case. Is this your first show? amy@calawaydesignfinish.com |

Amy,
Yes This is my first show. I don't have internet access which would really be great. I do have samples that I've created since class. Plus the samples from the class. I will be demonstrating the stucco veneziano. Time is tight. Brochures are printed, cards too! So I'm kind of green but my theatrical experience will kick in so I won't get too nervous. I would not claim any photos of someone else's work as mine but it would be a help to show how other homeowners or businesses would would use our product. Thanks for any additional advice! Larry, I don't have many jobs under the belt. I just graduated last month. If any of my photos listed under artisan01 help, you may use them. Anything to help a fellow applicator. Good luck and I'm sure you're samples will get more wows than a photo.

Theatrical yes! I've performed on the stage. Designed sets, etc. And you're right on the Fire Biter Amy but its nothing to be scared about (just some backpacking humour) Thanks everyone for permission to use photos. They are excellent examples. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thank you everyone for advice and encouragement. The show was somewhat of a success for the promoters-more of a success for me. The weather was really nice which, they say, kept people outside. But the customers were people in the middle of building or remodeling. I made some great connections with a couple of the contractors who didn't know that someone in town was doing this kind of stuff. There's a guy here who has a home improvement show on the local TV station. (He installed our windows and doors) He taped me giving a brief description of stucco veneziano. So that was real kick and a boost. They came back later to get a real good shot of the burnished product. The real popular application was the Murd'art. I just got back from doing an estimate on a unique setup this guy has in his bedroom suite. I'm going to work up the numbers and call him back...he sounds serious. Yeah!! Everybody was very impressed and even a couple of people inqired about the school. Expect a call. Alot more people now know the difference between "venetian plaster" (I call them Italian plasters) and faux finishes.
