I would check out the Danielli hotel. It is quite posh- but go there for cocktails at least Smiler There is also some great walls on the museum nearest to Harry's Bar. I for got the name....but like Doyle said ,wandering is good.

Also 2 must read books on Venice....The City of Falling Angels(J. Berendt), No Vulger Hotel(J. Martin. Also The Stones of Venice by Ruskin is a classic. These books will mention places you don't want to miss.

Venice is a wonderful place...I had the chance to explore it with the group from the SOIP last May, and I highly recommend to anyone. I would reserve more time to maybe go with the next group of applicators to the class in Italy. It was a very good experience that had been well thought out and prepared by the people from the SOIP. Not to mention that besides Venice, you would also have the chance to visit other great old cities in the northern of Italy, with beautiful sites and a lot of history.

The venetian plaster for the outside? Columns in venetian plaster? I'm sorry but is not possible to use the original venetian plaster for the outside.
